my dad's surgury is tomorrow. the first thing that comes to my mind is that i hope things will be okay AFTER the surgury. i know doctors know what theyre doing.... but because im in nursing school, i know all the complications that could go wrong after the surgury. like internal bleeding, infection, or him just getting blind. period. glaucoma procedures are probably nothing close to a procedure like my classmates mother who had a surgury for a hematoma that was her 3rd surgury for it. (its like a blood clot).
but i think what strikes me the most is how i can see clearly how life slowly ages us everyday. its funny how youre so used to seeing your parents as your super heroes. youre saviors. they pay for that parking ticket or fill up your gas tank when you just ask them once. you never ever feel like they'll get old or anything will happen to them.
but it just hit me recently that it is happening. that this is life and my dad is getting older and you see it slowly come out with things like glaucoma and other symptoms that just slowly come. what scares me the most is time. just that time is going by so fast that i didnt even see it pass by. not that my dad is running out of time, but just the idea that you see so much more when you finally catch up with it.
because like we all know. time. it doesnt wait for anyone.
